About the Business
Barrie of Durham first opened it's doors in the early 1960's, under the name of R.J.Barrie and Partner. Originally owned by and named after Bob Barrie, a well known, local man. In 1987 the business was taken over by current owners Dave & Joyce McHarry and renamed Barrie of Durham, retaining it's orgiginal links to the founder.
Dave brought a wealth of experience to the business having started his career at Royal Insurance at the age of 17.
Barrie of Durham quickly grew, and established an excellent reputation for service with both personal and business clients. In 1991, Dave & Joyce's daughter Julie, joined them in the buisness, followed by son-in-law Kevin Wilson, making it a truly family business. Now we are just waiting for the next generation to join us! With over 28 years of experience, we look forward to being of service to you!
